When it comes to living a more sustainable lifestyle, we sometimes forget the ecological footprint that our love for fast fashion can leave. Enter Ungalli, a fashion brand from Thunder Bay, Ontario driving the sustainable style movement forward. Ungalli prides themselves in having their items made ethically in Canada from recycled and organic materials.
Since the official legalization date is less than 90 days away, we wanted to create something special for our Summer 2018 Box. We partnered with Ungalli to design a snapback with the hashtag #legalizedit on it, exclusively available in this release.
We had the pleasure of interviewing our friends Hailey and Bree, sisters and co-founders of Ungalli to talk about their brand, our collab and more.
What is Ungalli and how did it come to be?
Ungalli is a sustainably and ethically produced clothing brand that is proud to be designed and manufactured in Canada. Ungalli is fiercely committed to creating a new style standard.
Ungalli’s founders worked in the clothing manufacturing industry and saw first hand how unsustainable this industry truly is. Inspired by both the beautiful place they grew up in, and the lack of awareness about the flaws in the supply chains of the fashion industry, Ungalli was launched in 2013.
What does it mean to be part of Canadian cannabis leading up to to the end of prohibition?
It’s an extremely exciting time! There has never been a better time to be involved with Canadian cannabis, there are so many opportunities that have never existed before.
We are thrilled to include the hemp hat in the Summer 2018 Box, can you tell us more about its features?
The new Ungalli hemp hats are made from 55% hemp and 45% cotton. They have a structured 6-panel fit with a curved bill and come in three different colours. The back of the hat has an adjustable snapback closure to get the perfect fit for everyone! The two different designs celebrate the end of prohibition in Canada! Hooray!
*Please note: We choose to be transparent and honest about everything we do at Ungalli. The only things you can buy from us that are not made in Canada are our hats. As soon as it's possible to make these hats here, you can bet we'll be one of the first to do so! Our hats are made in China from sustainable materials at a factory that is WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) certified.*
What is your advice for anyone looking to bring sustainability into the heart of their business?
To do it! Do it and never look back. Do it for yourself, your family, your customers, the planet. The smallest changes have an enormous impact even if you can’t immediately see them. You’ll inspire others to do the same, and it keeps growing from there. Only good things from bringing sustainability into the heart of your business. It attracts the best customers, the best partners, and gives yourself and your business a sense of meaningful purpose.
